Stirling Castle pictures

Stirling Castle is one of Scotland’s most impressive castles due to its imposing position and impressive architecture. The Great Hall was fully refurbished a few years ago and it is a very impressive building .

From Stirling Castle’s ramparts, visitors can take in views of the Forth Valley and Ben Lomond , as well as two of Scotland’s most important battle sites – Stirling Bridge (1297) and Bannockburn (1314). The castle is at the head of Stirling’s historic old town.Like Edinburgh Castle , Stirling sits on a volcanic rock dominating the city skyline .
The Renaissance pomp and pageantry of the Royal Court of Mary Queen of Scots returns to Stirling Castle next month when the queen and her entourage come home to Scotland for ‘A Royal Summer Holiday’.

Dunnottar Castle

Dunnottar Castle has the most impressive location you will ever see for a castle . It is on a huge rock with sheer cliffs on each side . If the castle was under siege it looks as if there is no way into it . The castle is 2 miles from Stonehaven on the east coast of Scotland . If you are taking pictures of the castle you will need a wide angle lens because of the sheer size of it

Eilean Donan

Eilean Donan Castle is in a rich landscape which is perfect for photography. Eilean Donan sits on an islet in the middle of 3 lochs , surrounded by mountains. "Eilean Donan" means island of Donan , an 11th century religious figure. If you take castle picture from the hillside overlooking the castle you can see Skye in the background. A small row of houses on the hillside must have one of the best views in Britain as they all overlook the castle.
Number 18 in the UK's top 20 camp sites is the Shiel Bridge Campsite, Glenshiel, Kyle of Lochalsh, Ross-shire, Highlands .
Glen Shiel, near the Five Sisters of Kintail and the Forcan Ridge, is a place for  some of the world’s most dramatic scenery.

Linlithgow Palace pictures

Linlithgow Palace is a ruined palace on the shore of Linlithgow Loch . Mary Queen of Scots was born in the palace. A new picture gallery of the palace by photographer David Rankin  features pictures of the palace and the loch . In the summer the loch is busy with anglers and boats . It is possible to walk all the way around the loch

Fordyce Castle for sale

Fordyce Castle in Scotland is for sale at £800,000. The castle also comes with a barony title, entitling the owner to call himself the Baron of Fordyce , not to be confused with Bruce the baron of Forsyth .  
The castle is on sale at offers over £800,000, and comes with the option of a four- and five-star self-catering holiday letting business.

Thomas Menzies, former lord provost of Aberdeen, built the pocket-sized castle in 1592. In castle-speak it is a “three-storey L-plan tower house with corbelled stair tower”, and is well supplied with shot holes through which to fire upon besieging enemies.

The Telegraph has named its top 25 camp sites in the UK.

In at number 18 is the  Shiel Bridge Campsite, Glenshiel, Kyle of Lochalsh, Ross-shire, Highlands 
Lying in the crevice of Glen Shiel, surrounded by the Five Sisters of Kintail and the Forcan Ridge, this is a place for in some of the world’s most dramatic scenery. There’s also Eilean Donan Castle a few miles away, if you have small ones to entertain.
